Good Morning all,

If you are subscribed to the NJ Camping Info Gazette then check your Inbox as I just sent out the latest installment. While I was doing some research for it I got the list of December activities in NJ and there is so much stuff going on this month I decided to add a post here about it. Remember that all this info comes directly from the New Jersey Tourism site which can be found at: http://www.state.nj.us/travel/

December 1 Holiday Festival of Lights.

Hello all,

I hope your Thanksgiving was almost as good as mine…I say almost cuz I'm still feeling bloated on Monday!

I ended up having 2 thanksgiving dinners this year as we always go to my Aunt's house and my Mom & Dad decided to cook another dinner on Saturday because they wanted to enjoy the leftovers for a couple of days! It was great fun!

Good Morning all,

Some Words of Wisdom I have come across in my journeys to think upon in regards to the imminent Thanksgiving Holiday:

For, after all, put it as we may to ourselves, we are all of us from birth to death guests at a table which we did not spread. The sun, the earth, love, friends, our very breath are parts of the banquet…. Shall we think of the day as a chance to come nearer to our Host, and to find out something of Him who has fed us so long? ~Rebecca Harding Davis

What we’re really talking about is a wonderful day set aside on the fourth Thursday of November when no one diets. I mean, why else would they call it Thanksgiving? ~Erma Bombeck, “No One Diets on Thanksgiving,” 26 November 1981

An optimist is a person who starts a new diet on Thanksgiving Day. ~Irv Kupcinet

And I saved the best for last:

For hearts that are kindly, with virtue and peace, and not seeking blindly a hoard to increase; for those who are grieving o’er life’s sordid plan; for souls still believing in heaven and man; for homes that are lowly with love at the board; for things that are holy, I thank thee, O Lord! ~Walt Mason

I just wanted to take the time before it gets to hectic next week to wish everyone well for the Thanksgiving holiday. If you have a family without conflict say an extra thank you when you count your blessings. If you have conflict in your family count your good blessings and hope for the best with the rest.

Hello all,

I have got to tell you two things:

  1. Hawk Mountain was awesome!

  2. I died and went to Cabela's Heaven!

We left Friday night at 6pm in a caravan of 7 vehicles which is always grueling because you can't make any kind of time since you have to stop every other light to let the other vehicles catchup. We finally made it to the Hawk Mountain Scout Reservation around 8:30 and go to our campsite around 9pm. There were 26 of us total and so you would think it took awhile to get everything setup…you would be wrong!

Good Morning all,

Well we’re in the home stretch, only 5 more days until the Hawk Mountain Troop 9 and Pack 9 Camping Trip!

I am very, very psyched for a bunch of reasons:

1. I’ve never been to Hawk Mountain
2. I get to spend the weekend with my older son
3. I’ve never been camping with the Troop before
4. This means we are only a couple of months away from my older son crossing over to Boy Scouts
5. We’re going to Cabela’s on Sunday.

Any one of those reasons would get me excited for a camping trip but when you add them all together I’m about to bust at the seams!

Trust me, I will fill you in on all the wonderful details once we return!

Good Morning All,

As alot of you already know in the NJ Camping Info Gazette I always try to include upcoming activities in and around the state. I do this because I know my family likes to schedule a camping trip around an event so we have something to do while camping in addition to all the normal cool camping activities. Sometimes I struggle to find activities to include (especially during winter) but I won't have that problem again!

Good Morning all,

For those of you that are in or around NJ today you will know that it is raining and has been raining since last night. All this rain reminds me of the wettest camping trip I have ever been on. It was about 6 years ago in August. My friend Doug was turning 30 and he decided he wanted to get all of his friends together for a camping trip/birthday party up in North Jersey somewhere.

Good Morning all,

Not a whole lot going on now that I’m back in the “Real World” unfortunately. I really did enjoy my time in Bushkill and only wish I had more time to check out the area but maybe next time. One note if you plan on going up there, please understand that the resort I stayed in, Fernwood, while not that bad it was pretty obvious that it had it’s heyday about 20 years ago and it was showing it’s age. But as long as you go up there knowing that you won’t be staying in a 5 star resort it is adequate.

Obviously, the best option would be to grab your tent or RV and do it yourself but I just wanted to let you know what to expect and didn’t want to mislead anybody.
